2021 Transition Spire - Everything You Need To Know
Introducing the 2021 Transition Spire - a completely new bike built around 29" wheels and 170 mm of travel, available in carbon or alloy. Our first deliveries of carbon and aluminium frames and complete bikes will be arriving between June and August.
Both alloy and carbon frames are recognisably Transitions, with the same shaped top tube and design with a clean line from head tube to rear axle as the current models. The new bike features the same updated Giddy Up suspension platform as the new Patrol, with improved mid-stroke support and small bump compliance.
Available in 5 sizes, the new Spire has a shock mount flip chip to adjust the geo and a new parallel headtube allowing you to change reach and headtube angle. The 2021 Spire and Patrol both feature Transitions new straight 56 mm head tube. Both bikes are supplied with standard ZS56/ZS56 headsets, but you can change to an angleset if you want to change reach or head angle. Out the box, in the high setting, the Spire's 63 degree head angle is already pretty slack.
All models use 165 mm cranks and though the Spire is at first glance similar to the Patrol, the longer chainstays and other smaller changes will make it more of a plougher than the Patrol. Transition say you can run the bike with a 27.5 rear wheel if you really want, and it will be fine (the Patrol chainstays are too short to run it was a full on 29er). There's clearance for 2.6 tyres and frame protection on the chainstay and seat stay.

The Deore spec'd bikes will only be available for a short while, they will be replaced with an NX bike.
