The latest V3 Sentinel looks like the V2, but has a host of refinements! Wheel sizes remain full 29", with the XS rolling on 27.5 wheels, but the new bike has a flip chip that allows you to use a 27.5 rear wheel.
This year's must-have internal frame storage features on the carbon bike, with separate bottle mounts for Fidlock water bottles. All sizes can carry a bottle, though XS and S frames are limited to smaller bottles. Keeping the bottle away from the storage access avoids rattles and creaks, and means accessing the storage is much easier.
Revised suspension linkages supports the bike higher in the travel, adding a bit more of the sport feel of the Spur and helping the bike deal with big hits. Head tube angle has been tightened up a little too, from 63.6 to 64 degrees - still pretty slack, but it should help the bike feel a bit more lively.
It's nice to see a US manufacturer think about us in the UK with internal cable routing that let you run your rear brake on the left without ugly cable kinks by having ports on either side of the headtube. There are blanking plugs for anyone running electronic shifting.
Our best-selling Transition is perfect for most UK mountain bike riding. 29" wheels at both ends and the sweet spot 160/150 mm of front/rear travel. Available specs cover carbon and alloy models, with Shimano Deore and XT drivetrains available on both frames and an XO AXS carbon version.
- Flip chip allows the bike to be run with mullet wheels.
- Collet main pivot axle and Enduro MAX bearings.
- Accessory mount.
- Lifetime warranty for original owner.
- Flush mounted rubber frame protection.
- Short seat tube with lots of insertion room to accommodate longer dropper posts.
- Carbon frame features internal "BOOM Box" storage with separate water bottle mounting.
- Threaded BB - Boost axles - SRAM UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger).
Carbon vs Alloy frames: Adding built in storage to aluminium frames is very difficult, so to keep weight and costs to a minimum, the alloy frames don't have the "BOOM Box" built in storage. Otherwise, the aluminium frames have the same features as the carbon frames.
