27.5 is sometimes called the "fun" wheel size and this bike is a shining example of why that is! Marin makes a big deal about the bike being influenced by their Alcatraz dirt jump frame and having development input from freerider Matt Jones.
Marin's San Quentin 3 is the top of their 27.5 range of hardtails, so the spec is great and the frame has refinements over the other models in the range. The tubing is more advanced with fully internal cable routing, but more importantly as far as we're concerned, the rear axle is Boost 148mm spaced. Wider spacing allows the wheel builder to use a wider hub, allowing for a stiffer rear wheel, and opening up the choices should you want to upgrade the wheels in future.
The frame also features ISCG05 chainguide tabs; adding a guide makes a big difference to chain retention when you've no rear suspension on rougher trails.
